When depressing a treadle, other treadles can sometimes move upwards. The end of the treadle can hit the crossbar above the treadles making a “clacking” sound.
You can eliminate the clacking by applying pieces of furniture felt to the underside of the crossbar where the treadles touch the crossbar.
This problem will not occur if lam and shaft heights and lam cords are set to their optimal position.
Tips when setting the heights of the shafts and lams:
- When measuring and adjusting, make sure the blocking pin is inserted through the marked holes of the countermarch shaft cords.
- Look at the article links below for specific measurements and then mark the measurements on a warp stick (any long stick will do, but warp sticks are handy and thin). This makes it easy to then adjust all shaft bars and lams to the right height
- It is important that you use the treadle tie-up cords properly. Use the first real hole next to where the cord was cut . Mark these places if necessary. Also look at the information in this helpdesk article General - Texsolv loop cord
- When adjusting the height of the shafts and lams, insert the pin of the harness end bolt into a higher or lower texsolv hole. The distance between the texsolv holes is 12 mm; for finer adjustment, turn the white plastic knurled nut.
