The David-3 shaft blocking pin blocks shaft movements and levels the shafts. This is convenient when threading the warp threads and when tying the treadles.
The first series of the David-3 delivered in July-November 2021 only blocks the shafts in the upward direction. The pin is then inserted from front to back and rests against the sloping side of the cams for each shaft.
Starting with the production series in December 2021, a complete blocking is possible again. The pin is inserted here from behind and falls into the upper groove on the cam disc.
To insert and remove the shaft blocking pin, shafts must be pushed down slightly. You can do this by pressing the top of the shafts with a flat hand (or a book). It's even easier if you depress two treadles that are tied-up for plain weave, at the same time. This will move all shafts.
We will be adding a video of this process
