There is too much twist in the yarn. This is caused by:
- You are treadling too fast relative to your drawing of the yarn with your hands.
- The yarn does not pull in sufficiently. You have to slow down the flyer (Irish tension) or bobbin (Scotch tension) apply more brake tension.
- The yarn does not run properly through the guides.
- The bobbin is full.
