Image of a Louet spinning wheel equipped with the Irish tension system
The original Louet spinning wheel, introduced in 1975, was equipped with the so-called Irish tension system. In this system, the flyer is braked using a leather strap that runs over the flyer shaft bearing.
The S10 Concept, introduced in 2015, can be equipped with either an Irish tension or a Scotch tension system.
With Scotch tension, the take-up is created by braking the bobbin. This system allows for very fine and precise adjustment of the tension.
