Replacing the flexible connector
- Loosen the screws connecting the flexible connector to the treadle and the footman.
Remove all remnants of the old connector. In older parts, this may appear as a paste-like substance. - It is helpful to disconnect the footman from the wheel.
See the article: Removing the eccentric cup. - Insert the new connector into the hole in the treadle and push it in as far as possible.
With open holes in the treadle, the connector will not protrude at the bottom. - For double treadle wheels, the distance between the treadle and the rocker arm must be adjusted accurately (see table below).
The excess material can be trimmed later using a sharp knife. - Tighten the screws again.
Note: the screw will cut its own thread into the flexible connector.
Important:
The measurement is taken between the treadle and the rocker arm.
