Dobby 2 softwareversion 2.2 is released in may 2020. The current software version can be seen on the screen of the dobby web interface in the top right corner.
Dobby 2.0 can be updated via the internet by connecting your dobby to the internet. See page 22 of the Web Interface Instruction manual for instructions. There are also detailed instructions below.
You can also download the attached file to a USB stick and update via USB from the settings screen.
There are multiple ways to perform the update
- Connecting your dobby to the internet can be done wirelessly or wired. Since the wireless connection is often less stable, particular in early versions of the web interface, we recommend updating with a wired connection
- download the update file to USB stick and update via USB via the settings screen in de Dobby 2.0 web interface
Once you are connected to the internet, email your serial number to support@louet.zendesk.com
Connecting your dobby to the internet can be done wirelessly or wired. In versions prior to 2.2, I find the wireless connection is not consistent, but you can try it. Your user manual has a detailed instruction on connecting to the internet. You need to go to SETTINGS. Enter your network name or router name under NETWORK and password in the WIRELESS PASSWORD field, then click connect. The dobby will attempt to connect to the internet. If successful, you will see the IP address change to one starting with 192 or 172. If after the reboot, the IP address remains 10.42.0.1, then this attempt has been unsuccessful.
I have had the most success with a wired connections and this is what I recommend.
To establish a wired connection, you need the white Ethernet adapter that came with your dobby. It has a male USB port on one end and a female Ethernet port on the other. You will also need an Ethernet cable.
- The Ethernet cable must plug into your home internet router on one end, and into the dobby on the other end.
- Most often, the dobby and loom are not close enough to a home router, nor is a cable long enough to stretch between the two. - In that case, take the dobby off your loom and move it beside your router.
- Make sure you take the power supply as you will need to power up the dobby.
- Once the dobby is again powered up and within cable distance of your router, plug the white adapter into one of the dobby’ s USB ports.
- next, plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the adapter and the other end into your router.
- You should see the IP address on the dobby change to something that starts with 172 and 192. This change generally happens pretty quickly.
- if not successfully initially. Turn the power off on the dobby, unplug the adapter from the dobby, turn the dobby back on. Once it is showing IP 10.42.0.1, plug in the adapter again and see if it works.
In very few cases, a router has internal blocks to prevent communication between a device such as the Louet dobby. In this case, you will need to update via the USB stick.
