The footman to wheel connector is a black plastic cup that connects your treadle to the main drive wheel. Part#SR0108 The cup sits over top of a silver bearing.
- First, unscrew the black cup from the wooden footman (dowel)
- Next, take the new black cup and screw it onto the footman.
- Re-fasten the black cup over the bearing, by placing it against the bearing, at a 45 degree angle, and twist it onto the bearing. Now slide the locking ring into place.
See attachments for diagrams and installation instructions.
The ring should slide down the cup to its base. One common mistake is not sliding the ring fully to the base, or when installing, not pushing the ring fully to the edge of the cup. This step is need to lock the cup on the bearing.
If the ring is very tight at the top, inch it downwards by using a screw driver to pry the ring at the tabs, first one side, then the other, repeat, until it is loose enough to slide down.
