Remove the old connector

To get the connector piece off is easy; just cut it.

Installing the new connector

To get the new piece on the nail is a little more difficult. The hole in the polyurethane connector(pu) is just big enough that, with some force, you can slip the pu-piece over the head of the nail.   This does take some force, but the Pu connector is pliable and will fit over the nail head.

Another method is to pull the nail out of the treadle and press it in again with the new connector piece on. Use pliers on the nail head and turn it while pulling out.
