With a Louet Scotch tension wheel, Victoria or S10C, if you sit down behind the wheel and start treadling, without fiber and without actually trying to spin, there can be a loud screeching sound and vibration that comes from the flyer and bobbin.
This is expected behaviour.
The cause is because the bobbin is vibrating on the flyer shaft. Try adding a leader and spinning some fiber, you will find the sound goes away. This is something that occurs due to the speeds and tolerances of individual bobbins. Since these are different for each bobbin, it does not occur with every bobbin and every wheel.
