S45 Spinning Wheel Instructions

Both visually and technically, the S45 is a remarkable wheel. The design challenge was to create a wheel that is compact and easy to handle. At the same time, we aimed for a 1:20 spinning ratio, which is significantly faster than our regular wheels and most wheels on the market.

As a large wheel is normally required to achieve such high speeds, this would compromise a compact design. Therefore, we chose an acceleration wheel. The higher speed of the smaller flywheel ensures smooth and easy treadling, just as you are used to with our other wheels.

The S45 is made of hard maple and finished with a medium-gloss water-based lacquer. By shifting the polyurethane drive band at the back of the wheel, the ratios can be adjusted to 1:7, 1:12, and 1:20.

The S45 features a double treadle and a Scotch tension system. It also includes a built-in lazy kate with two extra bobbins.

Dimensions: height 55 cm (22"), width 38 cm (15"), depth 39 cm (16"), weight 4.5 kg (10 lbs). The S45 is delivered fully assembled.

Bobbins, drive bands, and other spare parts remain available (since 2021).
