David 3 - sticking shaft

If your new David 3 has a shaft or two that do not want to return without help - ie, push the treadle and the treadle stays down - try increasing the spring tension under the shelf.

This can also occur with a weave structure where you are lifting 6 vs 2 - 6 shafts on one treadle and only 2 shafts on another.

Remove the shelf and move the texsolv cord between the Spring and Cam a couple loops tighter.

Warp tension will also help alleviate this problem so do not be too alarmed until you have a warp on and this issue occurs.

Early David 3’s produced in Spring 2021 have spacing between lams at 3mm.   We have increased that to 3.5mm on all looms produced since which eliminates lams sticking on each other.
