David-2 sliding beater not sliding smoothly

Question:

My David sliding beater is not sliding  smoothly

Answer:

The root cause is the build up of natural weaving dust created from weaving and other dust built up from the environment your loom is in.   All perfectly normal.

If your David sliding beater is not sliding so smoothly anymore, take the beater off the loom and remove the rods from the sliding mechanism.   Take a small toothbrush and using some soap and water clean the plastic sliding tubes.

If you are in the middle of a project, use a small amount of sewing machine oil or other light oil lubricant to improve sliding.   Once your warp is finished, clean as described above.
