If the tension on the cords of the mechanical dobby is not properly set, the transport of the dobby pattern heddles may jam in the forward and/or backward direction. It can also happen that the bracket at the rear of the mechanism becomes loose.
The adjustment of the reversing disc and the tension is described in the Octado manual (see article Octado - assembly manual) on page 33.
The tension on the cords is adjusted with the adjusting screws located on the inside of the reversing disc.
If you have an older edition of the Octado, the tension is adjusted by shortening the cord with shortening pins. A bag of shortening pins is included with the Octado or can be ordered as an accessory (item number WA0222). A conversion kit with adjusting screws is available by special order (item number WR0185).
The tension on the cords should not be too tight or too loose. When adjusting, the cord that determines the direction should be in the middle. After adjustment, the metal bracket on the reversing disc should be horizontal.
