Possible cause #1:
With the Megado and the Octado, the rear beam rises when the treadle is pressed. Springs are supplied with the widest looms and for looms where a second warp beam and / or sectional kits are ordered. The springs help assist in lifting the backbeam, which makes tread line lighter. If these springs are too tight, the rear upright will float above the foot rail (left photo). This must be prevented.
Reduce the tension on the spring by choosing a hook and eye that are closer together. Always adjust the spring to the same tension on the left and right sides.

Possible cause #2:
It is also possible that the beater is set too high, which prevents shafts from fully lowering - this presents most often in shaft 1 & 2.
It is best to adjust the correct height of the beater when the tie-up bar and cloth past the breast beam and the distance between cloth and reed is approx XXX INCH / XXX CM. When the treadle is fully depressed, the bottom shed rests just on the shuttle race, allowing the shuttle to slide easily through your shed.
You can adjust the height of the reed by screwing (in or out) the pivoting hinges that are screwed in the bottom of the reed uprights. Make sure both sides are set at the same height.

Tips :
-
Make note of the distance from the ground to the beater upright so that you can easily adjust the correct position later as needed.
- In order to have an optimal shed and as little resistance as possible while opening the shed, it is important that there is enough space between the reed and the cloth (approx. 16-21 cm). So every 6 cm of weave you can advance the warp a little further.
- For the same reason, it is important to eliminate resistance at the back of the loom between the heddles and the back beam. Therefore, remove the lease sticks during weaving. They have no function after threading the warp. If you still want to leave them in place, move them to the back. There you can connect the lease sticks with the eye on the rear upright. You can always replace the lease sticks by opening 2 successive sheds of plain weave, place one lease stick between the shed opening at the back of the loom for each plain weave shed.
