NO! The Louet Standard, Classic and Junior roving carder, all have an enclosed gearbox to keep fiber, grit and dirt out of the moving parts of the carder. Under most common use, there is no need to take the carder apart to clean it.
It is possible for fiber to get wrapped around the crank shaft. You should be able to cut the fiber off with an sharp knife instead of taking the carder apart.
