The David 3 tie up cords have been known to catch on one another. In order to solve this, we have used smaller head screws and we routed out a groove to set the screw heads in. This eliminates the possibility of this catching.
We have been asked why the Spring 2 doesn’t have the same changes to the treadle to prevent catching. The reason is that is not necessary. The Spring 1 used this same system for 30 years without an issue. We are finding users are not screwing the screw heads in deep enough.
First, again, smaller screw heads prevent this. Second, the action of the treadles is different than with the David loom and therefore cords will not catch. If by chance you experience this after all, the solution is to screw the screw heads in deeper.
