We are often asked how much you can weave before advancing the warp.
The Jane has clamps on the sides to keep the reed back against the castle, so that you increase the depth of the weaving area.
For a good beat it is best if the reed strikes the fell line vertically. With the reed in rest position, this is a maximum of 21 cm (8 1/4”) from the reed. You can go further, but that won't give you an optimal beat. The same goes for how far you continue to weave. You can go all the way up to the reed, but you will notice that the tension on the warp gets higher and higher. You can also experience that the shaft cords come off of the rollers.
The optimal process is to advance your warp after 8cm (3”) of weaving.
