If the beater is sitting too high, you will see a bend in your warp threads immediately behind the beater as the threads are being stretched. This bend is reducing your shed.
Go to the bottom of the beater assembly – on the right and left sides, there is a pivot point – a screw in hinge. You need to screw these hinges in deeper so that the warp is resting roughly in the middle of the reed, before you depress a treadle. When you depress a treadle, the bottom shed should just touch the shuttle race. If the bottom shed pushes down on the shuttle race, adjust further.
