The Louet Hollandia, Spring and Delta are equipped with Louet's unique parallel countermarch system.
How a traditional parallel countermarch works In the diagram, S are the marked pivot points of the levers E and the lams C and D. When treadle A is pressed, lam C moves down. This lam is attached to the levers E with a cord, causing the levers to tilt on their pivot point and pull shaft F up. When treadle B is pressed, the shaft is pulled down via lam D.

How a Louet parallel countermarch works. For each shaft, a cord runs over six pulleys. The ends of the cord are connected to each other so that the cord forms a closed loop. When treadle A is pressed, lam C moves the cord downwards on the outside. The cord on the inside then moves in the opposite direction and pulls shaft F up (see arrows). When treadle B is pressed, lam D pulls the inside of the cord and thus the shaft, downwards. The parallel countermarch has important advantages over the traditional counter march. In the normal countermarch, the lams are hinged on the loom, so that the movement of the treadles and the force required for operation depend on where the pedal is attached to the lam. In practice this means that only the middle part of the loom can be used for attaching treadles.

Another advantage of the parallel countermarch is that the lams remain horizontal during their movement. As a result, it makes no difference where the treadle is attached to the lam and the entire width of the loom can be used for treadling. For example, up to 14 pedals can be mounted under the Spring. The shafts cannot skew on the parallel countermarch. The heddles can be moved freely over the entire shaft. Due to the adjustable attachment to the cord, shafts and lams can be adjusted to the exact height. A disadvantage of counter march is that on average twice as many tie-ups are needed, compared to a jack loom.
The biggest difference with countermarche vs jack tie ups is that with Countermarche, you have to tie up every harness (its corresponding lam) to every treadle. So, if you have an 8 shaft countermarche loom, a single treadle has 8 screw heads for tie ups. When finished, all 8 screw heads should be connected to either a long or short tie up cord.
A recommendation when tying up your parallel countermarche loom - tie up all short cords first. Reading your pattern - which is likely geared toward a jack loom - tie a short cord for all shafts that indicate they need to be tied up - for each treadle. Once all short cords are connected, now go back and tie up a long cord to every screw head that remains open
So for plain weave if you want 1,3,5,7 on treadle one - tie up short lam cords to position 1,3,5,7 on treadle one. NEXT, tie up short lam cords to position 2,4,6,8 on treadle 2. LAST, tie up a long lam cord to 2,4,6,8 on treadle 1 and 1,3,5,7 on treadle 2
More detailed.... Tie up treadle 1 attach a short lam cord to lam #1 directly above treadle 1. Connect the end of the tie-up cord to screw head #1 attach a short lam cord to lam #3 directly above treadle 1. Connect the end of the tie-up cord to screw head #3 attach a short lam cord to lam #5 directly above treadle 1. Connect the end of the tie-up cord to screw head #5 attach a short lam cord to lam #7 directly above treadle 1. Connect the end of the tie-up cord to screw head #7
Tie Up treadle 2 attach a short lam cord to lam #2 directly above treadle 2. Connect the end of the tie-up cord to screw head #2 attach a short lam cord to lam #4 directly above treadle 2. Connect the end of the tie-up cord to screw head #4 attach a short lam cord to lam #6 directly above treadle 2. Connect the end of the tie-up cord to screw head #6 attach a short lam cord to lam #8 directly above treadle 2. Connect the end of the tie-up cord to screw head #8
Last step - attach a long lam cord to lam #2 directly above treadle 1. Connect the end of the tie-up cord to screw head #2 attach a long lam cord to lam #4 directly above treadle 1. Connect the end of the tie-up cord to screw head #4 attach a long lam cord to lam #6 directly above treadle 1. Connect the end of the tie-up cord to screw head #6 attach a long lam cord to lam #8 directly above treadle 1. Connect the end of the tie-up cord to screw head #8
attach a long lam cord to lam #1 directly above treadle 2. Connect the end of the tie-up cord to screw head #1 attach a long lam cord to lam #3 directly above treadle 2. Connect the end of the tie-up cord to screw head #3 attach a long lam cord to lam #5 directly above treadle 2. Connect the end of the tie-up cord to screw head #5 attach a long lam cord to lam #7 directly above treadle 2. Connect the end of the tie-up cord to screw head #7
