The floating breast beam is a system patented by Louët that ensures even warp tension after winding on and during weaving. This helps maintain consistent tension when opening the shed.
This system is used on the Hollandia, Spring, Delta, Octado, and Megado looms.
In this video, our colleague Dave from Louët North America explains how the system works.
You can increase the warp tension by adjusting the cords, moving them a few holes further along onto the screws. Make sure that the left and right sides are always adjusted equally.
If the spring mechanism is inconvenient while tying on the warp, you can temporarily block the movement of the floating breast beam by disconnecting the spring cord from the arm. The two short cords will hold the breast beam in place. After tying on, reconnect the spring cords and adjust the tension so that the uprights of the floating breast beam are vertical.
After each advance of the cloth, make sure that the arms of the floating breast beam are again in a vertical position.
