Louët is always innovating, dedicated to bringing you the most comfortable, enjoyable weaving experience. We have updated one of our most popular looms, here are the improvements.
The warp beam and cloth beam are now made of wood
The new construction allows the cloth beam to be easily removed for ease of warping and threading. The larger diameter beams allow more warp with fewer turns of the beam and are a larger diameter. The redesign in this section now allows for easier assembly. The new construction also allows for 4 sectional strips and the beam is machined to allow easy installation of a sectional kit.
Sectional Kit
The new warp beam has 4 pre-set positions to add the 4 sectional rails (previously 3). They are easier to attach and improve the sectional warp function.
Warp beam handle
The brake disc of the warp beam now has a handle attached which can be used as a crank that turns in the disk. This makes winding your warp much easier than with the Spring 1. (There is a new accessory for the Spring 1 that adds a similair handle - part #WA0354
Pulleys with ball bearings
The shafts move more easily, as rollers with ball bearings have replaced nylon rollers. This makes the already light treadling even lighter!
Improved beater
We have made the beater uprights longer and lowered the hinge point which has improved the beater movement since it now has a larger radius and thus an improved arc.
It is easier to take the beater on and off the loom, as the hinge hooks of the beater are mounted on the loom using different hardware than the Spring 1.
Attaching the top beater rail is more user-friendly, due to screw knobs instead of wing nuts (hand friendly!)
Warping instructions included
Warping instructions are now included. We will be making warping videos as well. We have also included clamps that can be used to clamp the reed to the beater aiding in threading the reed.
Leg extension kit (optional)
Due to high demand, we have developed a leg extension kit that allows a user to raise the SPring 2, approximately 12” off the ground. The option to raise the loom’s height will improve comfort when tying-up the treadles. There is also a Loom Lifting Device which will aid in actually lifting the loom so that a single user can lift the loom and install the leg extensions.
Magnet to hold Pawl
We have embedded a magnet in the side of the loom beside the pawl on the cloth advance lever. This helps keep the pawl in place and actually lets you advance your cloth a little further with each movement of the lever.
Easy click in / click out system to attach harness bars
The shaft bars can be easily clicked in and out of hooks that remain fastened to the Spring’s harness cords, allowing you to easily add or remove heddles. This design also prevents you from inadvertently reattaching the shaft bars to the cords in the incorrect position. The shaft bars are also easier to reach due to smaller middle posts and modified main upright shaping. (There is an upgrade kit for Spring 1’s and Delta looms to allow older looms to upgrade to the click-lock system - part # WR0182)
The shaft sides are also easier to reach due to modified main upright shaping.

Shaft bars
The shafts have more space for extra heddles.
Raddle covers
New raddle covers are provided with the Spring 2. These covers help prevent warp yarns from coming out while beaming the warp onto the warp beam. The two wooden strips can slide over (and cover) the raddle. (These raddle covers will be available as optional items for all Louet looms)
Easier Tie-ups
It is easier to attach the tie-up cords, due to more space between the upper lams and the lower shaft bars as well as smaller screw heads on the treadles.
Improved Shed
An improved progressive shed, due to more distance between the screw heads on the treadles, allowing for further distance of their movement and therefore also in the movement of the shafts.
Improved Floating Breast beam system
The cords of the floating breast beam system can no longer come off the rollers as they now pass through two eyelets.
Improved folding system
Securing the back beam section is easier. And when folded, there are no loose parts to remove or potentially lose.
It’s a heavier loom
Overall sturdier frame with new front posts and thicker main uprights and foot rail.
-
- Heavier ratchet wheel and ratchet, ideal for high warp tension, while weaving carpets.
- Countersunk holes make it easier to place the breast beam onto the floating arms.
- Countersunk holes make it easier to place the breast beam onto the floating arms.
- A more attractive look on the improved hinged connection of the floating breast beam arms to the front posts, with a less-visible connecting bolt.
Improved shipping boxes
The Spring 2 is packaged in a more compact way, cleverly designed to expand and assemble. All boxes ship with courier, so no freight transport is needed. (Significantly lower shipping costs) All shafts and cords continue to be pre-strung.
