The S90 was developed in the 1990s as a foldable version of Louët’s Irish tension spinning wheel. As spinning was less popular at that time, relatively few of these wheels are in circulation in the Netherlands. To celebrate Louët’s 40th anniversary in 2015, a limited edition of the S90 was released in a darker wood finish. The S90 is no longer in production.
Funfact
From Jan Louët, founder and primary designer of all Louët equipment:
“When I was designing the S90, my son Jop—then 16 years old—was working a holiday job in our factory. He saw me struggling to find a practical way to fold the mother-of-all out of the way. It was his idea to create a slot in the wheel to store the folded mother-of-all. I generously rewarded him by buying him a motorbike.”
The S90 was originally designed in the 1990s. In 2015, a limited edition was released to celebrate Louët’s 40th anniversary. The model is no longer part of the current collection.
