What is a Bobbin Bearing
Louet bobbins have a large center core. In order to allow the bobbin to rotate smoothly on a flyer shaft, we use a molded plastic bearing called a "Bobbin Bearing". Bobbin bearings for Louet wheels are either 6mm or 8mm.
This refers to the diameter or thickness of the flyer shaft which fits properly through the bobbin bearing.
Bobbin bearings have shallow ridges on the inside in order to grip the bobbins core in a tapered compression fit. Despite this, sometimes bobbin bearings come loose or fall out. You can put a bobbin bearing back onto the center core by tapping the bobbin bearing into place using a rubber mallet.
Ordering new bobbin bearings
Some customers may find that their bobbin bearings become loose over time. If this happens, they can be lost.
Replacement bobbin bearings can be ordered from any Louët retailer.
